The principle of measurement

The following animation demonstrates the ultrasonic measurement principle used in the viaSonic-products in a typical application.

Sensor systems from viaSonic emit ultrasonic pulses. These transmit through the container wall to penetrate the liquid until reflected back as echo by the liquid surface (liquid/gaseons or liquid/solid). The sensor receives the returning pulses. The time of flight (time-span between emitting the signal and receiving the echo) is the basis for the measurement.

viaSonic-sensor systems can even provide exact measurement of fluids in extreme motion. Special signal generation and processing ensures a reliable and accurate measurement.

FLT sensor systems

... measure reliably
FLT-sensor systems are ideal for industrial and mobile applications. The combination of an ultrasonic measurement principle with state-of-the-art signal analysis ensures reliable measurement results - even when encountering strong movements or shocks.

... work without maintenance
FLT-sensors are non-invasive measurement systems that means they can measure without contacting the medium, even through container walls. Dry coupling eliminates the need to replace coupling media during operations or when swapping tanks. In fact there is no need for additional coupling media. The remarkable ease of moving between containers makes the sensor system ideal for a broad range of applications. Cast directly in robust housings, FLT-sensor systems operate maintenance free.
